Nestled just a stone's throw from the iconic Cuckoo Clock, Hotel Montecatini offers a prime location that makes exploring the area seamless-perfect for someone like me who values rich history and charming locales. While the hotel certainly shows its age, the simplicity of the rooms and the promise of comfort won us over, especially given the affordable rates we enjoyed over Christmas. Our local explorations were fuelled by the helpful 24-hour front desk that provided us plenty of tourist information, while my fiancé appreciated the free Wi-Fi that allowed us to plan our next adventures. It's clear that the rooms, particularly the bathrooms, could benefit from a refresh-there's an odd smell that makes you wonder if it's bug spray or simply the smell of wear and tear. Nonetheless, we made the most of our stay, relishing the chance to unwind by the seasonal outdoor pool-our evenings spent there were idyllic. Hotel Montecatini has all the foundations of a charming retreat; it just needs a little love to elevate the experience. I'd recommend it for budget travelers seeking a classic Italian escape but urge the management to consider upgrades to ensure they don't lose their loyal clientele due to fading charm.
